Google has agreed to pay $100 million to settle a class-action lawsuit filed by advertisers who accused the company of overcharging them. The lawsuit, which dates back to 2011, claimed Google manipulated its Smart Pricing system, failing to provide promised discounts and charging for ads outside the specified geographic areas.
The settlement covers advertisers who used Googleโs AdWords program (now known as Google Ads) from January 2004 to December 2012. Although Google denied any wrongdoing, the company expressed relief that the matter has now been resolved.
This settlement aims to compensate affected advertisers, ending years of legal battles over unfair billing practices.
